Howard Conklin Baskerville (born April 4, in North Pellet, Nebraska, USA; died April 2; in Tabriz, Iran) was an American schoolteacher at Mashrib School. Attempts to break the siege of Tabriz were killed in the city. He is often referred to as the "American Lafayette of Iran" and the "American Martyr of the Iranian Constitutional Movement."

Howard Baskerville came to Tabriz in the fall to teach history. His entry into Iran coincided with a period in which Mohammad Ali Shah in Tehran threw the cannonball, dismantled the constitutional basis, and ruled the era of minor tyranny. At the same time, the Tabrizis, led by Sarkhan and Baqir Khan, stood up for the restoration of the constitution, and the pro-Shah forces subsequently besieged Tabriz. After a six-month siege and a shortage of drugs and food, a group in Tabriz called Fujat Nejat, led by Baskerville, was formed to break the siege. Baskerville, who had seen military service in the United States, decided to teach the youth, instead of narrating the history of the dead. At the same time, the death of Seyed Hassan Sharifzadeh, a friend and close friend of Baskerville, so overwhelmed him that, in response to the wife of the US consul in Tabriz, who had asked him to leave the constitutional ranks, she said, withdrawing her passport:

My only difference with these people is my hometown, and that's not a big difference.

Baskerville was killed by a bullet that struck his chest during a battle at Tabriz's Gaza Strip between the Fuji Nejat group led by Baskerville and the besiegers. After his death, a mass funeral was held at the American Cemetery in Tabriz, which according to Albert Charles Rathislaw, the British consul in Tabriz, was a very impressive event. Shortly thereafter, Sattarkhan wrapped the Baskervill gun at the time of his killing, engraving his name and date on the Iranian flag and sent it to his family in the United States.

Currently, a half-statue of him is installed in the Constitutional House of Tabriz. Some in the United States have proposed April 7 to mark the anniversary of the death of Howard Baskerville as "a day of friendship between Iranians and Americans." Currently, some anonymous enthusiasts alternately decorate his tombstone in the Assyrian Tabriz Cemetery with fresh yellow flowers.
